Tanzania’s Vanessa Mdee is arguably one of the best female artistes in the East African region.
The MTV Africa Music Awards Best Female Artiste of the Year 2015 is a fan favorite in Kenya. She recently jetted into the country and has held countless interviews with various media outlets.
In one of her interviews with Nairobi News, Vanessa spoke briefly about her music and her weaves.

Briefly tell us about yourself?
“I am a progressive Afro-pop musician and I was born in Tanzania and I love positive vibrations.”
Tell us About your hit Niroge
“It is a beautiful love song about that undeniable true love. . It was a bit sensational for a change. The project is very dear to my heart. The video was shot in South Africa. I love what the video has done for me, it got almost 1 million views in less than 3 months which is a feat i haven’t achieved before.”
A lot of girls would like to known how many weaves you own
“Plenty, I couldn’t count. I try to change as much as I can and I also change the colours as much as I can; different colours, different textures and different cuts.”
What is your most embarrassing moment?
“I had just won an award at the 2014 Kilimanjaro Awards and I went up to pick my award and I cropped and fell. Social media made fun of me through memes and little jokes about my trip. They thought I couldn’t walk on heels. Funny enough, same thing happened again in Nigeria after I won an award. So, please, God, never again!”
What should your fans expect from you next?
“I’m actually finishing my album right now and it will be out before the end of the year. About collaboration with Kenyan artistes, it’s a surprise.”
